每逢農曆三月媽祖誕辰前後，臺灣便沉浸在「三月瘋媽祖」的熱潮中，信眾簇擁鑾轎跨越城鎮，在緩緩行進的步履間，牽起土地與心靈的深層連結。其中，苗栗白沙屯媽祖進香已有二百年歷史，雲林北港朝天宮迎媽祖以「陣頭、藝閣、犁炮」為名聲勢浩大，臺中大甲鎮瀾宮媽祖繞境更與梵蒂岡的耶誕彌撒、麥加的朝聖之行並列譽為世界三大宗教盛事的慶典，映照這座島嶼強韌的生命力。 Island of Many Deities: Mazu Mania in March Around the third lunar month, as the birthday of the goddess Mazu approaches, Taiwan enters a period often described as the “Mazu Mania in March.” Crowds of devotees surge around the deity’s palanquin as they travel across towns and cities. Among the most storied traditions, the Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage in Miaoli has a history of over two centuries. In Yunlin, the Beigang Chaotian Temple celebrations are renowned for their grand scale, featuring traditional performance troupes, parade floats, and firecracker rituals. Meanwhile, the Dajia Jenn Lann Temple pilgrimage in Taichung is hailed as one of the world's three major religious festivals, standing alongside the Vatican’s Christmas Mass and the Hajj to Mecca. Collectively, these traditions mirror the resilient spirit and enduring vitality of life on the island.
