活版印刷工具材料-鑄型
「鑄型」為活字鑄字機構造的其中一個部件，鑄字機基本上分為機臺與鑄型兩大部分，鑄型是用來決定活字大小規格的鑄體樣式。由上鑄型、下鑄型、腹板、橫板所構成。將銅模安裝在鑄字機的銅模夾具內，再由鑄字機鑄出鉛字。也因此鑄型需與銅模配合使用，通常為鑄字機的製造廠商製作及供應，配合銅模的深度，讓鑄造鉛字的總高度為印刷機的標準使用高度。
買鑄字機時，並不會附鑄型，因為鑄字機公司不知道你會鑄什麼。不同鑄型鑄造不同大小的字，其「中板」會決定字體的大小。鑄型上可配裝各種字母銅模。除了有活字的鑄字機種外，另外還有行條、空鉛等不同的機種。
日星鑄字行目前的鑄型多為日本的「八光活字鑄造機製作所」或臺廠仿製作的。
"Casting mold" is one of the components of the movable type machine structure. The Typecasting machine is divided into two parts: the machine and the casting mold. The casting mold is used to determine the size and specification of the type. It's composed of upper casting, lower casting, web plate, and horizontal plate. The copper mold is installed in the copper mold fixture of the typecasting machine, and the typecasting machine will make type, therefore, cast mold has to be used with copper mold that is usually made and supplied by the manufacturer. With the depth of the copper mold, the total height of the casting type will be the standard height of the printing machine.
When you pursued a type machine, you will not have a caste mold along with the machine, because the typecasting machine company does not know what you will cast. Different mold cast different sizes of type and match plate will determine the typeset size. The casting mold can be equipped with various letters of copper molds. Besides, there are many kinds of casting machine model: movable type machine, line strip casting machine, and quad casting machine.
Mostly the cast mold in Ri-Xing are made by Japanese HACHIMITSU movable type casting machine factory and some imitate mold are made by Taiwanese factories
