In resent two decades, Taipei government has held grand Lantern Fairs every year during the Lantern Festival in National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall). Since a week before the Lantern Festival night, the traffic control has been executed in the streets near the Memorial Hall and the shade trees along the streets would be decorated with millions of little lamps, constituting tunnels of lights and shining bright at night. A number of specially designed vehicles festooned with splendid laterns are also displayed along the classic style exterior walls of the Hall. The most popular area in the Lantern Fair is the Folk Art Street. Being a combination of old traditions and new cultures, the area is full of the conventional art works, famous Taiwanese snacks, as well as agricultural specialties of Taiwan and exotic taverns.
