To show the highest respect to the Supreme God of the Heaven, the believers or temples would set up two altars. The upper one, called ʹtop tableʹ(頂桌), is for Tien Gong and the lower one, called ʹlower tableʹ(下桌), is for other subordinate gods. The offerings on the top table are all vegetarian foods such as kelps, bean curds, radishes, peas, snap beans, day lilis, tree fungus, mushrooms, longans, green peas and noodles respectively dished into 12, 24 or 36 bowls and called ʹvegetable bowlsʹ(菜碗).
