The most usual wishes for the usual people are getting a promotion and making a lot of money. "Promotion means money" is a common belief for the young people who want to climb the ladder of success. These wishes could be read in the custom of ʹTiao Chia Kuanʹ (the Dance for Receiving Official Promotion,跳加官) in the Spring Festival. ʹTiao Chia Kuanʹ is always performed before the beginning of the whole drama. In the mirthful music played by gongs and drums, a man wearing a laughing mask and ancient red vestments would dance on the stage and show a banner cloth with auspicious sentences like "Heavenly Officer Brings Blessings"(天官賜福) or "Promotion for All" (加官進祿) to the audience for presenting the blessings from gods.
