On the 2nd and the 16th day in each lunar month, the families in Taiwan will prepare sacrifices offered to the family gods or domestic gods like the God of Earth or the Stove God. It is also the custom for the storekeepers to make this kind of the regular offerings called "Ya" (牙) twice each lunar month to the God of Earth, also known as the God of Wealth, to pray for the prosperity of the business. The first "Ya" in the beginning of the Lunar New Year is called "Tou Ya" (頭牙), and the last "Ya" made at the end of the lunar year is called "Wei Ya"(尾牙).
