Ci Ciao’(Praying for Artistry)

The ritual of Ci Ciao could be dated back to the late Han Dynasty. On the Seventh Eve, young girls will prepare sewing kits, scissors, rulers, mirrors and flowers to make offering to Zhi Nu Goddess to pray for good skills in weaving. Then the competition of threading double-eye needle, seven-hole needle or nine-hole needle will be held under the moonlight to provide a chance for girls to show their sewing abilities.
