Offerings Prepared in Visiting the Graves

Before the offering ceremony held, the families would clean the weeds, replenish the lost soil to the graves and repait the engravings on the tombstones. The offerings include three animal sacrifices(chicken, pork. fish) or five animal sacrifices(with the addition of goose and duck or duck eggs to the three animals) along with the rice cakes, flour cakes, fruits, different types of the grave paper money and candles. After the ceremony, some boiled eggs would be eaten and the eggshells would be left on the graves to symbolize that though the ancestors had passed away, the family life is still lasting from generation to generation.
