《農活人生》紀錄片，以住在台南後壁土溝里，仍持續種植水稻的林木己里長（西元1953年生），與住在高雄杉林，自稱「務農族」的退休客家農夫劉慶進（劉桑，西元1955年生），以及住在雲林虎尾，前台糖公司馬光農場主任退休的廖建鑫（西元1954年生）等三人為主軸，透過三位資深農業職人的生命故事，觀察生活於臺灣西南稻、蔗農業地帶的農人們，自1950年代至今的農活（知識與技術）與農活（記憶與文化）人生。

       本片以交叉剪輯的影像敘事形式，將林木己里長、劉桑和廖建鑫主任三人在水稻和甘蔗的過往種植經驗，結合他們的個人生命故事，來呈現農民生命史與水稻、甘蔗農作經驗之間的連結。並探討臺灣由傳統人力、獸力為主的農業型態，轉變至機械化農業型態的歷史過程中，整體的農業文化在過去與現在的差異和轉變。本片以三位資深農業職人的口述為主軸，搭配農作現場影像紀錄及歷史畫面，來展現水稻和甘蔗的「農活」之中，農民在田園土地上的勞動經驗與生命故事。

        The documentary “The Farmer's Skills & Life” focuses on three agricultural practitioners: Mu-Chi Lin, the village representative of Tugou, born in 1953, who resides in Houbi District, Tainan City, and continues to grow rice; Ching-Chin Liu (Liu San), born in 1954, a retired Hakka farmer living in Shanlin District, Kaohsiung City; and Chien-Hsin Liao, a retired director of Makuang Farm at Taiwan Sugar Corporation, who resides in Huwei District, Yunlin County. Through the life stories of these three senior agricultural practitioners, the documentary explores the skills and lifes of farmers in the rice and sugarcane regions of southwestern Taiwan from the 1950s to the present.

         This film employs a cross-cutting narrative technique to intertwine the past farming experiences of rice and sugarcane cultivation of three individuals—Mr. Mu-Chi Lin, Mr. Ching-Chin Liu, and Mr. Chien-Hsin Liao—with their personal life stories. It showcases the connection between the life histories of farmers and their experiences in rice and sugarcane farming. The film also explores the transition from traditional farming methods that relied on human and animal power to modern mechanized agriculture, highlighting the differences and transformations in agricultural culture between the past and present. Centered on the oral accounts of three veteran agricultural practitioners, the film combines on-site farming footage with historical film to depict the skills and lives of farmers engaged in rice and sugarcane cultivation, highlighting their labor experiences and personal life stories.
