史料原文/譯文Back when Japan declared the "Rule Governing the Distribution and Control of Grains", "Taoyuan County Grains Control Union Warehouse" and Warehouse of Daxi Farmers' Association were built to store rice. With machines and tools of the union, the purchased rice was processed into brown rice and bagged for storage. The rice and its storage at that time were under Office of the Governor-General of Japan's control.
The brick-wall building of three warehouses was wooden constructed with large spacing. The ventilation-holed wooden ceiling is well preserved, and windows open at different levels for air to breathe. The architecture features wooden struss and plain bar concrete. The tools to store the food are maintained to add the food storage function to the building. The combination of rice warehouse and the industry, as well the implementation of warehouse of Farmers' Association and Rice Self-management Law are the evidence to the economic control to Taiwan's food in the Japanese Colonial Period, and one can see the reaction of Taiwanese to the rice control.
