史料原文/譯文Built in Qing Dynasty, the Cemetery is a sophisticated and grand-scaled architecture, commemorating pioneer Huang Jitong's hardships in settling in Taiwan. A Parents Remembrance Pavilion and the Monument for a martyr fighting against the Japanese, Huang Shi-Wu, stand firmly aside. The use of Guanyin andesite for most sculptures around 1963 turned this into a local feature.
Huang was originally from Fujian and came to Taiwan around 1755. Having first developed a town in today's Guishan area, he then invited his brothers to join him. More than two hundred years later, the Huang Family has rooted deeply, procreating thousands of offspring in Taiwan.
Huang's mastery of Feng Shui, along with ingenuity of such practice, can be savored from the couplets hanged next to the tomb: "South-facing seat springs opportunity; rightly water flow breeds fortune" and "Eastward wind flourishes with blessedness; westward light teems with prosperity."
