史料原文/譯文Of Yangmei's eight must-see sights, one of them is the Tea Research and Extension Station (referred as "Puxin Premium Tea House"). The sector's establishment in Yangmei renders the town its historical significance.
Taiwan has great climate and geographical features for tea production. Owing to the exquisite, high-quality Taiwanese tea, the Japanese Colonial Government established The Resources Bureau, supervised by Office of the Taiwan Governor-General, and an "Anping Town Tea Experimentation Station" in 1903 to research and optimize the tea-making and cultivation techniques. This is the most comprehensive research institute of its kind in Taiwan. The Station is south to Puxin Train Station. Taiwan Nichinichi Shimpo (Taiwan Daily News) reported that it took three years of operation to see the Tea Research and Extension
Station bringing prosperity to the town, signaling its critical role in local development.
Now only three Tea Research and Extension Stations are found in Nantou and Taidong County, and New Taipei City in Taiwan. This used to be a Class C Official Residence (a government residence resembling regular housing) that came with a cottage, kitchen and toilet; The Residence not only offers a rich historical context for the intertwining relationship between the Tea Research and Extension Station and the town of Puxin but also bears witness to the development of the tea sector in Taiwan.
