(20121017) / 內容簡介(英文) / Wang Xianzhi (style name Zijing), whose ancestors came from Langye (modern Linyi, Shandong), was the 7th son of the famous calligrapher Wang Xizhi (303-361) and known as “Wang Daling.” Equaling his father’s fame in calligraphy, they were known as the “Two Wangs.” Histories indicate that Wang Xianzhi’s running and cursive script were particularly admirable. Mi Fu especially praised the spirited changes and untrammeled innocence of his calligraphy, admiring his “one-stroke calligraphy” with brush movements like “fire prongs stirring the ashes, they link with no end, as if done unconsciously.” The “Jiangzhou,” Jibutui,” “Xiaoxi,” and “Shenqiwan” works by Wang Xianzhi have been selected here from “Chunhua Pavilion Modelbooks.”
